Here are the key dates to remember as we near the primary elections on June 2, 2026:
May 4, 2026
Ballots begin arriving in your mailbox.
May 5, 2026
Secure ballot drop-off locations open.
May 18, 2026
Last day to register to vote for the Primary Election.
Tuesday, June 2, 2026:
ELECTION DAY!
Polls open 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
Ballots must be returned or postmarked by 8:00 p.m.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE
- All U.S. Citizens, who are residents of California, at least 18 years old on Election Day, and who are not currently serving state or federal prison sentences for felony convictions are eligible to vote.
- All individuals who are not currently serving prison sentences for felony convictions, but are otherwise eligible can vote

- Including those in county jails serving misdemeanor sentences or awaiting trial, and individuals on parole, probation, or mandatory supervision.
- Proposition 17 also restored the right to vote for people currently on parole for felony conviction.
