  • Activities focused on identifying and solving community problems
  • Dolores Huerta’s inspiring story as your guiding example

Standards Alignment

K-8 Lesson Plans: Aligned with California State Standards
High School Lesson Plans: Aligned with California State Standards and the Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum

Important: Please review the Instructor’s Guide before teaching any lesson plans. This ensures you have all the context and preparation needed for successful implementation.

Our Mission

Dolores Huerta believes that young people must recognize their own power to create change. When students understand that their voices matter—especially when joined with others—they can drive real social change and influence policy.

These lesson plans are designed to inspire action and community engagement. We want every student to feel empowered to make a difference in their community and beyond.

“I want students to get a sense of their own empowerment and the things that they can do to make the world a better place. I’m hoping that Dolores Huerta Day will be focused on civic engagement.”
