Join the Hunger Strike in Bakersfield

The Dolores Huerta Foundation is calling on community members across Kern County and beyond to stand up and say:
Hands Off Our Healthcare!

From May 20–23, we will lead a 4-day hunger strike and community action outside Rep. David Valadao’s Bakersfield office, demanding protection for essential federal programs that provide healthcare, housing, education, and economic stability for our most vulnerable neighbors.

Too many in the Central Valley already face barriers to care and opportunity. These budget cuts would only deepen that crisis—and we refuse to be silent.

Here’s how you can take action:

Join the hunger strike or attend a daily action in Bakersfield
Contact your representative and demand they vote to protect our communities
Donate to help fund this action and support ongoing grassroots organizing in the Central Valley

The US House of Representatives will be voting NEXT WEEK to finalize TRILLIONS of dollars in cuts to Medi-Cal, food assistance programs, education, and more. Join us as we enter our LAST action before the House votes on these devastating cuts.
