Monserrat Barragan

Front Office Receptionist
Monserrat’s journey began in Mexico, where she was born, before she immigrated to the United States as a baby. Despite growing up in the U.S., she discovered her undocumented status only when faced with the college application process. Fortunately, during that pivotal time, President Barack Obama enacted DACA, which transformed her life.

DACA became her lifeline, empowering her to break free from the constraints of her circumstances and become a trailblazer as a first-generation college student. Monserrat pursued her passion for law and politics, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Pre-law from California State University, Bakersfield. Today, she calls Bakersfield, CA, her home base as she continues to strive for excellence and contribute to her community.

Inspired by the words of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Monserrat lives by the mantra: “Fight for the things that you care about. But do it in a way that will lead others to join you.”
