A Call to Action: Resisting Injustice, Building Hope

DSC 9761

Less than a month into his second term, President Trump has wasted no time attacking the rights of immigrants, women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and vulnerable communities. Through executive orders, legal maneuvers, and public statements, he is dismantling protections, stripping away rights, and fueling fear. His policies threaten our progress in civil rights, education, healthcare, environmental protection, and economic justice.

The Dolores Huerta Foundation (DHF) refuses to stand by while families are torn apart, workers are exploited, and communities are marginalized. We know many are scared and unsure of what the next four years will bring, but we also know this: we have fought before, and we will fight again. Together, we will win.

What’s at Stake

Our communities are facing profound and urgent crises. The threat of deportation is real, and families are living in fear of separation. In the Central Valley, where immigrant labor is our economy’s backbone, these policies create instability and hardship. The rollback of reproductive rights and attacks on LGBTQIA+ individuals are stripping people of their autonomy and dignity. Systemic racism continues to fuel voter suppression, economic disparity, and over-policing in Black and Brown communities. Climate policies are dismantled, leaving our already vulnerable regions at even greater risk of pollution and environmental disaster.

Despite claims of economic strength, working-class families are struggling as wages stagnate and social safety nets are cut. Billionaires and corporations continue to profit while everyday people face rising costs of living, lack of healthcare access, and an education system that increasingly benefits the wealthy while underfunding marginalized communities. The systems meant to support us are being eroded, and the powerful are betting on us feeling too defeated to resist.

But we refuse to give in, to remain silent. DHF is committed to organizing, advocating, and standing with our communities during these difficult times.

We will not allow our people to be silenced. DHF is expanding grassroots organizing efforts, ensuring that families, workers, and students have the tools to defend themselves. Our civic engagement work will strengthen as we fight against voter suppression and mobilize people to hold leaders accountable. We will tirelessly register new voters, educate communities on their rights, and push for policies prioritizing people over profits.

We will continue advocating for immigrant rights, workers’ rights, environmental justice, and equity in education and healthcare. From the Central Valley to Washington, D.C., we will ensure that our communities’ voices are heard in the halls of power. Whether through direct advocacy, legal resources, or coalition-building, we will fight to protect the most vulnerable.

Stronger Together

Empowering youth is a critical part of this fight. DHF will invest in young leaders through civic education, mentorship, and training programs. We believe in the power of young people to create lasting change, and we are committed to equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to lead.

We also know that real change comes from collective action. That is why DHF is working alongside elected officials, civil rights organizations, grassroots activists, and community leaders to build a united front against oppression. This fight is bigger than any one organization—it is a movement, and we must stand together.

The next four years will be difficult, but history has shown us that we can overcome even the greatest obstacles when we unite. The Dolores Huerta Foundation is not just an organization—we are a movement built on the belief that every person deserves dignity, justice, and the opportunity to live a dignified life. We refuse to back down in the face of oppression, and we will fight tirelessly to build a future where equity and compassion guide our policies and institutions.

Now, more than ever, we need you. Get involved—volunteer, attend community meetings, and take action in your local area. Support the cause—donate to DHF so we can continue providing resources and advocacy. Stay informed—follow us on social media, and educate yourself on the issues impacting our communities. Speak out—challenge injustice wherever you see it, whether at work, in your neighborhood, or online. Every action counts.

The future is uncertain, but one thing is clear: we will not stop fighting. We will not stop organizing. We will not stop demanding justice. Together, we can and will create a better world.

¡Sí se Puede!
