HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES ADVOCATES ACROSS CALIFORNIA TO URGE GOVERNOR BROWN TOUSE $5 BILLION TO RESTORE SAFETY NET SERVICES IN REVISED CALIFORNIA BUDGET
Use $5 billion in budget and revenue solutions to rebuild vital services and lift California’s families out of our current poverty crisis
On Wednesday, May 14, health and human services advocates and recipients of essential services will gather for press events in five cities across California to call for restorations to the state’s social safety net in the California budget. These events will respond to and coincide with the release of the Governor’s revised 2014 – 2015 state budget, due by May 15.
As Governor Brown releases his revised state budget for 2014 – 2015, social safety net advocates and community members will be working hard to urge restorations to essential services, devastated in recent budget years. The HHS Network of CA will urge Governor Brown and legislators to use $5 billion, drawn from revenue solutions and a budget surplus, to invest in critical social safety net programs that California’s families need to recover from the Great Recession and turn California’s startling poverty statistics around.
