We hope you will consider supporting the Dolores Huerta Foundation for #GivingTuesday on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, to empower farmworker and low-income families in rural parts of the Central Valley to become thier own advocates in improving their lives and the lives of their children.
Your generous #GivingTuesday donations will strengthen our programs: making a real impact and transforming our communities.
For example, for only $5 a month you can provide nutritious meals for 10 parents (and their children) attending an organizing training. Parents gain the skills necessary to navigate the school system, challenge proven discriminatory discipline practices, and advocate for their children to ensure they receive the quality education all children deserve.
A donation of $10 a month pays the rental costs for a hall where we hold community forums to educate the public on critical issues such as DACA, immigrant rights, public safety, education and health policy and much more. Elected officials are often invited to hear directly from their constituents. DHF hosts these gatherings monthly in five rural communities: Arvin, Lamont, Woodlake, Lindsay, and Sanger.
A generous gift of $25 a month covers travel expenses for group of 10 to 15 youth to participate in a statewide leadership development camping trip where they connect with other young “changemakers” and strategize, learning how to become their own powerful advocates in advancing youth rights and impacting local and state policies.
Thank you for your continued commitment to ensuring that our communities have the skills and support they need to organize for equality and justice.
¡Sí Se Puede!
P.S. Use the hashtag #GivingTuesday to show your support on social media after you make your donation and to encourage your community to do the same.
